There are two ways you can share photos with others using Digital Photo Slide Show. The first way is to create a single file SETUP.EXE file that you can e-mail or send on CD-ROM. The recipient can install your slide show on his or her PC simply by running SETUP.EXE just as they would install any program on their PC. See paragraph 4 for additional instructions. The second way to share photos is to create an autorun CD-ROM that displays your slide show automatically when the CD-ROM is inserted in the recipient's CD drive. Creating an autorun CD-ROM is a simple step by step process. See paragraph 5 of for additional instructions. 2. Creating a single file SETUP.EXE slide show is a simple 4 step process.
5. How do I create a CD-ROM with my photos that starts automatically? Use the Autorun Producer utility to create an autorun CD-ROM that displays your slide show automatically when the CD-ROM is inserted in the recipient's CD drive. This utility creates the four files necessary for your slide show to start automatically when the CD-ROM is inserted into the end-user's CD-ROM drive. Creating an autorun CD-ROM is a simple process.
Now when the recipient of your CD-ROM inserts it into their CD Drive, your slide show will start automatically 6. If I create a CD-ROM slide show with my photos and send it to my friends and family, will the shareware notice be displayed when they try to view the slide show? If you use the Autorun Producer utility to create your slide show, no shareware notice will be displayed when your friends and family run the slide show, even if they are not registered users of Digital Photo Slide Show. 7. How do I add music to my slide show?
Music files are played in alphabetical order which includes the full path to the file name. For example: d:\AugustPhotos\Z.mp3 will play before d:\SeptemberPhotos\A.mp3. The mp3 files will play one after another. When the last mp3 has played, the whole sequence will be restarted with the first mp3. To display the Configuration Window, right-click anywhere on the
main screen and select configure or click the configuration icon. Slide Show supports the following music formats: .mp3, .wma, .wav and .mid. It should be noted that Windows Media Player may refuse to play a .wma file on another PC if the License for that music is not transferred to that PC. There are no such license checks for .mp3 or .wav files. 8. My photos display slowly on some computers. What can I do? Try using Digital Photo Resizer to resize your images to something close to your screen resolution. This makes the images display faster because the software does not have to resize the image each time it is displayed. For example, if you have a 3.1 mega pixel image it will be approximately 7 times larger than a typical 800x600 screen resolution. Use Digital Photo Resizer to optimize your photos for 800x600 and they will display much more quickly on all computer systems.

13. Is it possible to create an autorun side show with music on a CD, and also on the same CD put more photos that they can view separately? I do not want these extra photos to be shown in the autorun side show. You could do this but it would require that you manually edit the Autorun.inf file that is created by Autorun Producer. Create one main folder on the CD off the root that will store your photos and Digital Photo Slide Show. For example, create a folder named \Photos and place the DSSAR.EXE and DSSAR.ICO in that folder along with all the photos you want to display. You may place your photos in sub-folders below \Photos. Edit the Autorun.inf file with Notepad. The second and third line of the Autorun.inf file look something like this: open=dssar.exe /HC /SB /HG /NTG /NST /NPM /SM /NSF /RI /1S /RO
/PL #16711935 After the "=" sign in each line add "\Photos\" so the autorun.inf file will look something like this: [autorun] Then place the photos you do not want displayed in the slide show in some other folder i.e. \Other Photos. Do not place the photos you do not want displayed in \Photos or any sub-folder under \Photos. 14. How do I control the default transitions that are used to display my photos? If you want your slide show to display only a few of the numerous transitions,
you need to change the default transitions. To change the default transitions
for the current slide show, click the transitions button 15. How do I add captions to my slide show?
To add a caption to a photo, first pause the slide show and then
click the photo property button Captions and other photo properties are stored in files with the same name as the image but with .dss as the file extension. Thus, a photo named PHOTO1.JPG would have its caption stored in PHOTO1.DSS. Make sure to copy all of the .dss files to your CD-ROM if you want the captions to be displayed on your CD-ROM. 16. How do I control how long a specific photo is displayed? To specify how long a particular image will be displayed, first
pause the slide show and then click the photo property button 17. How do I choose a specific transition for a specific photo? To specify how long a particular transition for an individual photo,
first pause the slide show and then click the photo property button
18. How do I access the controls?
To display the controls with the keyboard, simply press the F2 key as indicated on the pop-up menu. 19. How do set the order of slides? Slides are ordered randomly or alphabetically. Alphabetical sorting includes the entire path so that c:\zzz\apple.jpg will play AFTER c:\aaa\zebra.jpg. If you are ordering slides numerically, use multiple zeros in front of the number i.e. 001.jpg, 002.jpg, 003..jpg etc. 20. I have done everything and cannot hear the background music I added to my slide show. Please help. If you are having problems hearing music with your slide show please do the following:
21. How do I make the slide show end after all the slides are shown. Starting with version 2002.7, you simply select the option "Pause at The End" from either the Configuration Window or Autorun Producer. It is no longer necessary to use a separate file named "The End.jpg". This function works even if the photos are being displayed in Random Mode. 22. I would like to distribute
my graphics etc. via an autorun CD in the form of a webpage with
clickable thumbnails. Try using Web Slide Show which allows you to create html thumbnail pages that link to the full size images. Create a file named autorun.inf with notepad that contains the following text: [autorun] Copy autorun.inf and the .htm files created with Web Slide Show
to the root of the CD and copy the images and thumbnails folders
to the CD in their entirety. This will create the desired autorun
thumbnail view of your images. 23. The music plays on the Autorun CD I created but it sounds garbled and skips. What is the problem? First, try resizing all of your images to a resolution close to that of your monitor. For example, if your monotor is displaying photos at 800 by 600 then resize the photos to that resolution so the software does not have to spend processing time resizing the photos when the slide show plays. You might also have a problem with your CD-ROM drive. Mp3 files can be played on most CD-ROM drives, however, if the drive is not set in DMA mode (Direct Memory Access) the quality of the playback may be garbled or the music may cut in and out. Please read the following FAQ on Microsoft's web site for additional information about how to change your CD-ROM configuration to DMA mode. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q260229 You may also need a firmware update from the CD-ROM manufacturer. 24. Copy all the files created with Web Slide Show including all the .htm files, subfolders and images. A good free FTP program is WS-FTP LE. 26. My camera produces Quick Time .mov video files.
